Have you ever walked through a day eagerly anticipating those moments when you might be surprised by joy? Moments like— Absorbing the pure delight bubbling forth in a child’s peal of laughter. Fluffy white clouds floating through the sky and noticing how one looks just like your favorite animal. It causes you to smile. AContinue reading “Serendipity”

Intention
My intent was to live out the dawning day as I would any other: follow the flow and routine of what my schedule and calendar dictated. My calendar was booked with school drop-off and pick-up, appointments, and several social engagements. My intention was to deliver and follow through. Yet, grief overtook me. My spirit yieldedContinue reading “Intention”
Quiet
The morning air is fresh and crisp. It is fragrant with underlying scents of pine and spruce. It beckons me out onto the porch, along with a soft blanket and a steaming hot mug of coffee. Looking up, I see the brightest of the stars faintly twinkling in the pre-dawn sky. This sight leaves meContinue reading “Quiet”
Explore
Words literally begin falling from her lips as we draw near to our spot. Recently coiningthis place Talking Rock, I recalled how intuition had hinted at how this place might be perfect for opening the door to conversation. Our daughter, always the embodiment of all things extroverted, has recently taken on an air of quietContinue reading “Explore”
Hope
Do you feel as if your morale is losing hope? Has the year 2020 sucked your spirit dry and hardened your soul? If so, I encourage each of us to not lose hope. For just as my hope was rediscovered through the reflection upon the rebirth of plants and trees in the spring, we can experience a deeper reclaiming of hope when we discipline ourselves to a perspective shift of fixing our eyes on Jesus . Peace, Not Fear
The shrill sound of an alarm, unique to a county alert or, in this case, a public health announcement, rang across the room as dawn broke. It’s honestly not how I wished to be awakened on this morning. As recognition of the sound fell into place in my mind, I could not help but feelContinue reading “Peace, Not Fear”
His Presence Made Known
It was March of 2016 and big, fat, wet snowflakes fell from the sky in a steady cadence. I stared out the window and wondered how the weather would affect our flights to Africa the next day. Knowing full well how the airport was accustomed to handling winter mixes, I still managed to continue internallyContinue reading “His Presence Made Known”
Abba Father, Parent Me
As I listened to a friend share about living out her faith in the hardship and challenges of life, I quickly realized how she was unaware how God was using her words as affirmation within my own heart and soul. God was inviting me to take a moment and behold this moment. He was encouragingContinue reading “Abba Father, Parent Me”
